The Noosa Film Society was established in 1979 to encourage interest in film as an art form.
The Society has an interest in showing films that are of high
cinematic quality and/or of interest due to well informed content. We
try to avoid films that are considered "mainstream" and we also like
to screen a variety in terms of country of origin and format. The
society also wishes to assist local festivals and often have
screenings of short films and documentaries, full length animation,
etc. In general the committee tries to take into consideration the
wishes of the membership which is surveyed every few years, while at
the same time providing films that are more challenging, but which
reflect excellence in some particular, such as screenplay,
photography, historical interest, etc.
